Design Newsletters You Should Subscribe To

Newsletters! Where do I begin with them? Ive been someone who subscribed to countless of them as a novice designer but didnt find the time or the mental initiative to read them. Once I started working as a freelancer, I realised that newsletters were the quintessence knowledge base that websites held close. Ive been very mindful of the websites who’s newsletters I subscribe to. Over the years, they’ve helped me become a better designer by teaching me new things about the softwares I’ve been using for years. Ive started to look forward to certain newsletters with anticipation every month for the unknown and exciting information they bring to me. The ones I really look forward to receiving have informed me of a wealth of knowledge and helped change the way I know the industry. 

Muzli Publication - Weekly Digest. 

Why: This is a weekly summary of the most interesting design content. You can join their community on medium and explore a horde of articles that will help increase your knowledge base on everything related to visual design. They have a larger coverage of UI/UX articles so for those looking for adivice, tricks and things to know, this is a brilliant newsletter to subscribe to.

Web Designer News

Why: An absolute gold mine of information! This is a daily newsletter that shares information about the work environment as well as design necessities for web designers. It also delves into giving advice on dealing with difficult situations with clients quite often. The advice tends to be practical and will aid you to resolve situations in the most effective, efficient and clean manner.

Why: A monthly newsletter that shares trends that have been curated by researchers who study behance as well as the design world that exists outside of it. There are countless tips Adobe shared on extracting the most out of our design tools, including events where we can meet other designers and training sessions. They’ve also shared important advice on digital marketing of a designer’s work which helps to build our business better. 

GoodType

Why: This is a beautiful newsletter that shares information centric around Goodtype. They organise events, launches, and even curations of freebies quite often and this newsletter helps collate all of that in one place for the reader. 

Memorisely

Why: Zander Whitehurst has developed this absolutely brilliant website this year which is entirely centric on knowledge needed by user experience and use interface designers. This website launched early this year and is growing to be one of the most wholesome, useful and capable network of designers from all over the world. Their newsletter will inform you of networking events and tips that you do not find elsewhere. 

Logoinspirations

Why: Their Instagram page is a place that regularly updates its followers on the best logos out there, often breaking down the geometry behind it so that one can understand its construction. Their website offers multiple courses for designers and students to better heir skills. The weekly newsletter will update the user about countless websites to find free mockups, new logos releasing in the world, even logo design trends sometimes. 

Indesign Secrets

Why: A weekly newsletter which such a large amount of information on indesign - as the name suggests, they share knowledge from the world’s top indesign users on bettering one’s grasp of this software. It shares everything based in and around indesign, including the indesign designers conference. 

Adventures in Typography

Why: This is a weekly newsletter which shares information on type specimens, important reading material on type and typography, calligraphy, and every other type-based nuanced field you could imagine. The content often changes from being base din type to knowledge about fields which will spark your interest, such as important reading about seeds if one intends to make 3D type with seeds. Their archive is here

Why: A weekly newsletter curated by Vijay Verma and Aakarshna, I would highly recommend this for students to receive advice from interviews by design giants, articles that curate research links and a very fine collection of design resources that can be used for any project you’re working on.

Product Disrupt

Why: Boasting one of the largest creative collectives out there, this newsletter shares advice from users across the board. Professionals from Amazon, Google, Figma, Wordpress often send advice for one to become a better product designer. They have a very large library of inspiration for product designer that range from a curated list of blogs, podcasts, books, UI kits, Inspiration and even chrome extensions that help aid a designer.
