✦ THE ADVENTURES OF ✦

THE TOY MAKER

After four years of making Toy Faces, I am excited to welcome you to the next chapter, The Adventures of The Toy Maker. It is a tale of a whimsical journey that unfolds with each artwork.

#1 I Will Take The Time I Need

I refuse to feel the fake sense of urgency we have cultivated. I refuse to participate in this fictional hustle race in which we all think we are competing.

#2 What We Leave Behind

I come from a city with a lot of abandoned history, full of structures forgotten in time. They make a great place to escape everything new and loud. I often think about how the makers would feel about their legacy if they saw it now.

Why are we so consumed by the monuments we leave behind, knowing that even we, the creators, will eventually become the first to abandon them?

#3 What Are Books For?

What Are Books For?

Are books about stories? Are they for understanding others? Do they tell us more about the subject or more about the author and how they see the subject?

Sometimes, I feel I like to collect books more than I like to read them. I want to be that unbothered person in a cafe who is really into his book, but I am not always that person. I keep trying, and occasionally, when the right book finds me, I get to be that person, even if I am stuck in the rain.

This artwork is inspired by my various visits to Faqir-Chand Bookstore over the last two decades.
